State O&P Licensure Advances in Pennsylvania

PROTHETICS LICENSING: The House voted 174-20 to approve a bill to set new licensing standards for those who provide prosthetics, orthotics and therapeutic footwear. Prosthetic and orthotic licensees will have to have a bachelor’s degree in prosthetics or orthotics, or an associate’s degree and two or more years of education, training and experience. The licensing would be run by the Board of Medicine, within the Department of State. It was sent to the Senate. (House Bill 48)
