CMS ANNOUNCES DELAY TO MAY 1 PECOS IMPLEMENTATION

I wanted to pass along that CMS announced this morning that Phase 2 of the PECOS (Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership System) program implementation that was scheduled for May 1, 2013, has been delayed due to “technical issues”. A new date for implementation has not yet been released. Affected products for the PECOS delay include:

• Medicare Part B claims from laboratories, imaging centers and Durable Medical Equipment, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) that have an ordering or referring physician/non-physician provider; and
• Part A Home Health Agency (HHA) claims that require an attending physician provider.

Please contact OPGA with any PECOS questions. Or visit the CMS website here
